The belly gradually rounds and the breasts begin to enlarge. The female carries on her normal life of foraging, grooming and travelling with the community.
The belly is clearly larger. The female may slow down and spend more time resting or nesting. Birth is usually quick, often at night, and the mother cleans the infant and holds it to her chest straight away.
Every fifth breeding date across the year with the matching birthing date, calculated at 237 days. Find the row closest to the date the chimpanzee was served; because normal gestation spans 230 to 240 days, plan for a window of a few days either side.
